4th Annual Daytona Siblings of the Year Luncheon

Please join us when we honor siblings, Gregory, Cristina and Martin Favis as this year’s recipients of the Gordon Johnson Award. Neighbor to Family created the Gordon Johnson Award, named after our founder, to celebrate the special connection between brothers and sisters. The award honors an adult sibling group with strong local connections who, through service to their family and the community, reinforce the value of the sibling bond.

The Favis family has earned distinction and respect locally for their professional endeavors and sense of community. Gregory R. Favis, MD is a nationally renowned oncologist at Halifax Medical Center and is a true advocate for local cancer patients. Cristina C. Favis has been a fixture in the community for many years as a practicing attorney. She is very active with Catholic Charities and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Martin J. Favis is currently the Executive Director for the Duvall Home and has sat on many local and national boards. Another brother, Steven B. Favis, passed away in 1988. He was a well respected law enforcement agent who did many things in his community. Neighbor To Family, Inc. (NTF) is the nation’s best model for keeping siblings together in foster care and reuniting families quicker. We currently care for abused and neglected children in Flagler/Volusia counties within the foster care system. We also have other programs designed to help high risk families. These programs have proven successful in keeping families together through the intervention services we provide.

Roberts Family honored at Neighbor To Family Baltimore’s 2009 Siblings of the Year Luncheon

Neighbor To Family, Inc., a Baltimore foster care agency that keeps siblings together, honored the William and Alice Roberts family at its second annual Siblings of the Year Luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The luncheon which took place at The Forum Caterers was a big success with more than 210 people in attendance.

The Roberts siblings received the 2009 Gordon Johnson Award, named in honor of the founder of Neighbor To Family, Inc., who serves as its President and CEO. The brothers and sisters were honored for their lifetime of service to the Baltimore community and their family devotion. From oldest to youngest, the siblings are: William Lincoln Roberts, Jr.; Geraldine Roberts Waters; Carolyn Mae Roberts; Veris Roberts Lee; Hilda Jane Roberts Wood; Shirley Ann Roberts Edwards; and, Alma Roberts. Two more siblings, Albert Roberts and Gloria Roberts Jubilee, are deceased. “The Roberts siblings show us everyday why society should treasure the sibling bond. Together they have accomplished so much through their service to the community, their professional success and by inspiring many people over the years,” Johnson said. “Their success illustrates why brothers and sisters in foster care should not be further traumatized by being torn apart from each other, sometimes permanently.”

The proceeds from the event, which will exceed $2800, will provide special activities for local foster children in the care of Neighbor To Family.
