PLEASE, HELP US DELIVER THIS PRECIOUS CARGO!
All too often our youngsters come into foster care carrying their worldly possessions in the only luggage available to them: a black plastic "garbage" bag. If we can provide our children with a sturdy footlocker as they enter foster care, they will immediately have a more appropriate, and appealing, way to secure many of their personal items.
Neighbor To Family therapists, foster parents and the biological parents will then incorporate this footlocker into the treatment plan, skillfully guiding the child in decorating the trunk's inner and outer surfaces with meaningful, positive mementos. The footlocker - now a symbol of hope and renewal - becomes the property of the child, and remains with the child as he or she returns home or to another permanent placement.
THE GORDON & DELORIS JOHNSON ENDOWMENT
The Gordon and Deloris Johnson Endowment has been established by the Board of Directors as a vehicle for gifts from friends, colleagues and other supporters desiring to:
- Honor Mr. and Mrs. Johnson's six decades of service to children; and,
- Enhance the programs and services of the agency Mr. Johnson founded, Neighbor To Family, Inc.
Gifts to the Endowment are held in perpetuity, with income from investments distributed by the Board of Directors to benefit clients and programs of Neighbor To Family.
FOSTER PARENT RECRUITMENT FUND
Neighbor To Family's focus on keeping sibling groups intact and their high standards for professional foster caregivers make foster parent recruitment an on-going challenge. The Foster Parent Recruitment Fund (FPRF) gives local Neighbor To Family (NTF) programs the resources to:
- develop marketing materials that target specific audiences (i.e. potential foster parents in minority communities, rural areas, etc.); and,
- reward current foster parents for identifying and recruiting new caregivers who receive a license and have children placed in their home.
